The Resources Innovation Group (RIG) are pleased to be hosting Managing Director of Hazer Group, Mr Geoff Pocock, who will share his story about Hazer’s commercialisation journey to date.
Hazer was founded in 2009 to commercialise technology initially developed by the University of Western Australia, with the Company listing on the ASX in December 2015. Their primary technology relates to a low-emission hydrogen and graphite production process which enables the effective conversion of natural gas and similar feedstocks, into hydrogen and high quality graphite, using iron ore as a process catalyst.
Most recently, Hazer has entered into a Heads of Agreement with Mineral Resources, a highly innovative full-service provider of mining infrastructure services in Australia, for the potential development of commercial synthetic graphite facilities, and also Primetals Technologies Austria GmbH, a joint venture between Mitsubishi Heavy Industry and Siemans, for integration of the Hazer Process into the steel making industry to reduce costs and CO2 emissions.
With first-hand knowledge around activities associated with technology spin-outs, ongoing technical development, preparing and executing an IPO, and chasing key next-stage commercial development partners, Geoff has a wealth of experience and learnings to share from Hazer’s journey so far.
